The Birth of Imam Hassan bin Ali R.A

Hazrat Hasan bin Ali was born on 15th Ramadan 3 AH in Medina. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) named him Hasan and on the seventh day performed his ‘Aqiqah and slaughtered a goat, then shaved his head and ordered that a silver equivalent to the weight of his hair be given in charity.

Before Hazrat Hasan r.a was born, Umm al-Fadl r.a had a dream in which she was given the good news of the birth of Hazrat Hasan r.a. After seeing the dream, Hazrat Umm al-Fadl came to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, I saw in my dream that a piece of your body is in my house.” Hearing this, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, “You have seen a good dream. Fatima (ﷺ) will give birth to a boy and you will breastfeed him with the milk of Qatham.” So Hazrat Hasan r.a was born to Hazrat Fatima (ﷺ) and Umm al-Fadl r.a breastfed him with the milk of her son Qatham.
